There are thrilling fictional account of the Vietnam War. Often these books and movies range from broad perspectives of the history to very political views. The excellent book called “Everything We Had” by Al Santoli does just this.

One stone cold classic of the Vietnam War is by Michael Herr. Herr was what we now call an ’embedded’ journalist. The whole conflict is captured in his thrilling book. Herr played a role in making some of the most amazing Vietnam War Movies to ever hit theatres.
There are some fictional accounts that were best sellers, and one of them is Matterhorn by Marlantes. Jungle terror is covered in detail, a problem that many soldiers faced. You get to see the author’s viewpoint of the war when you read it.
